Guti happy with new president
Real Madrid midfielder Guti said the
change in presidency augers well for the future of the Spanish giants
on Thursday. He is confident that new president Ramon Calderon will
allow the club to strengthen their squad in a more balanced way
following the flawed transfer policies of Florentino Perez.
"This year the club is
looking for people in every position, trying to establish some
balance, so that Real is not just six names who sell lots of shirts
and don't win anything," Guti told a news conference on Thursday.
"You don't need to look
any further than the World Cup where everyone thought Brazil were the
favourites but Italy went on to win playing as a team."
Calderon was elected
president two weeks ago and has publicly distanced himself from the
policies pursued by Perez, who quit in February after six years at the
helm.
